As a certified TELC, Goethe, and Fide examiner with over 10 years of teaching experience in Zurich and Vienna, and fluent in four languages — German, English, Spanish, and Greek — I know the power of language to change lives. I founded this platform to make high-quality German instruction accessible, flexible, and affordable — so that no learner is left behind.
Tech Lead & Head of Growth
I’m responsible for the front- and backend of our web application, making sure our AI-powered platform runs seamlessly. With my expertise in gamification, I focus on turning learning into a fun, engaging, and motivating experience — so that every step toward mastering German feels enjoyable.
The German Academy Zurich was founded in Zurich by Anna Pastrikos and Felix Zeeb. Anna, drawing on her extensive teaching experience in Vienna and Zurich, built the educational program, while Felix laid the technological foundations. Together, they set out to make German learning more flexible, accessible, and personalized.
In 2022, the German Academy Zurich expanded its impact beyond Switzerland, welcoming more than 100 students from all continents. Learners from the USA, India, China, the UK, Australia, South Africa, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Europe, and many other countries joined our programs. This global reach confirmed the worldwide demand for flexible, high-quality German learning and reinforced our mission to support learners everywhere.
A year of celebration: numerous students passed their official exams and reached new German levels. Positive learner feedback validated the platform’s unique mix of flexibility, structure, and support. The German Academy Zurich also expanded its faculty, welcoming its first teacher alongside Anna.
With three more teachers joining the team, the German Academy Zurich grew to a faculty of five teachers. Building on learner feedback, the founders also launched a learning community, giving students a supportive space to connect, collaborate, and stay motivated.
The German Academy Zurich implemented the newest AI-powered education technology, enhancing personalization and interactivity. Hundreds of new students joined, marking a new chapter of growth. We celebrated our thousands student and confirming the GAZ as a leading destination for learning German online.
In 2024, inspired by the feedback of our learners, we launched our own German learning community on Skool. It’s a space where students can connect, share experiences, ask questions, and support each other on their journey to mastering German. Together, learning becomes more motivating, collaborative, and fun.
